Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do I need a referral from my GP?

A. No, you don’t need a referral. Sessions can be booked with me directly.

Q. Can I obtain a Medicare refund?

A. Medicare does not generally cover counselling services. If you want to use a mental health plan, your GP can refer you to a registered provider. However, if counselling suits your needs, consider that it is often a less expensive option even without the Medicare rebate and unlike a mental health plan, you are not limited to 10 sessions. Private counselling offers you both affordability and flexibility, ensuring ongoing support is available.

Q. Can I obtain a private health fund rebate?

A. Private health funds differ on their inclusions for counselling services, dependent on your plan and your health care provider. It is best to check with them directly to discuss what is included on your policy.

Q. Do you work with international clients?

A. Yes, I work with clients from across the world, excluding USA and Canada due to insurance restrictions. Contact me to schedule a suitable time, subject to availability, in your time zone.

Q. Do you offer testing or diagnosis for neurodivergence?

A. No. I offer a space to explore your own internal patterns, beliefs and thought processes. I support you to understand your own inner world, so you can overcome challenges in a way that works with your natural neurology.

Q. How does the sliding scale pricing work?

A. Offering sliding scale pricing allows you to choose the rate that you pay per session, based on your personal circumstances. You don’t need to apply for the rate or prove your financial situation. Sliding scale pricing is valid for online bookings only and is flexible, you can change the rate at any time for future bookings by simply choosing an alternative option each time you make a new booking.

Q. Can you diagnose me or prescribe medication?

A. No. As a counsellor I cannot diagnose any disorder such as mental health or personality disorders and I cannot prescribe medication, I recommend contacting your GP to start that pathway. To consider whether my services are right for you, I have more detailed information on my scope of practice including disclaimers in my Terms of Service.

Q. Do you offer crisis support?

A. No, this counselling service focuses on facilitating a safe and supportive environment for growth, healing and personal development, it is not intended for crisis intervention, acute mental health care or suicide risk. If you are experiencing severe distress or mental health challenges, I advise you seek support from a registered crisis mental health professional, emergency services or by calling an appropriate helpline.
